Infection Control: Strategies for Compliance (3 CE)

February 23, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm EST

For decades the CDC has provided Infection Control Guidelines to help us navigate safely through clinical practice. The goal of which is to prevent disease transmission to patients, staff and the community at large. When new pathogens emerge i.e. COVID-19 and others, research and enhanced guidelines are added to our existing policies and procedures by the CDC, ADA, OSHA and other regulatory agencies. In 2016, CDC developed the Infection Prevention Checklist for the Dental Setting; a clear, concise tool designed to evaluate in office compliance with both the administrative and clinical policies and procedures. As the CDC, ADA and OSHA provide updated regulations and guidelines for Emerging Pathogens in dentistry, they are added to our basic programs. This program reviews the updated guidelines as well as the Bloodborne, Airborne and Emerging Diseases/COVID-19 in Dentistry; and the policies and procedures outlined in the 2016 Infection Control checklist. The current Summary of Guidance during COVID-19 by the ADA is also presented. Numerous handouts are provided, including the fillable 2016 CDC checklist designed to evaluated compliance with the Infection control guidelines in your practice.
