P.A.N.D.A (2 CE)
June 21 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm EDT
This program is a 2 credit continuing education course that focuses on the dental professional’s role in decreasing the incidence of abuse and neglect. P.A.N.D.A., which stands for Prevent Abuse and Neglect through Dental Awareness, began in Missouri in 1992 to address the lack of child abuse reporting by dental professionals, even though the majority of all physical abuse involves injuries to the head, neck, and mouth. Delta Dental is the national corporate sponsor. Many states have individual P.A.N.D.A. organizations but the Mid-Atlantic P.A.N.D.A. Coalition is the first tri-regional collaboration joining Maryland, Delaware, and Washington, D.C. The Mid-Atlantic P.A.N.D.A. Coalition program focuses on child abuse and neglect recognition and reporting and appropriate referral for intimate partner violence, elder and vulnerable adult abuse and neglect, and human trafficking. Throughout the course, the impact of bullying as a power and control tactic is discussed as it occurs across the spectrum of family violence topics.
